The 2021 AGT Series continued it's game changing season at Mistwood Golf Club, just outside Chicago, IL this past weekend. Noted as one of the best golf venues in Illinois, the club is gaining national recognition for it's progressive approach to the game, making it an ideal place for an AGT Series event. Mother nature delivered a fantastic afternoon of weather even though the forecast was bleak, players were able to soak up the sun and enjoy the day.
Playing the AGT Series FourBall format, the team of Ben Kilborn and Matt Solis played flawless team golf to take home the hardware in the Gross division. Team birdies on on #1, #2, #8, and #9 blitzed the field and built what turned out to be an insurmountable lead. With two more team birdies on the back nine, leading to a final team score of 6 under, Kilborn and Solis earned invites to the National Championship at Big Cedar Lodge Finishing in a tie for 2nd place and in the money at -2 under were Carmen Corvino & Bobby Devogelear and Brandon Tudor & Joe Corsei.
In a tightly contested Net division, Andrew Bogren (15 Hdcp) and Chris Sanchez (11) emerged victorious shooting -10 under 62, good for a 2 shot victory! The pivotal moment came on the 15th and 16th holes, natural birdies lead to net eagles and 4 shot jump up the leaderboard for Team Bogren/Sanchez and leading to some punched tickets for Big Cedar Lodge! Rounding out the top 3, and finishing second at -8 was Andrew Quinton (14) & Pat Kelly (23), while Tom Murphy (6) & Mark Cardelli (11) finished in 3rd place at -7 winning a scorecard playoff!
In the Gross Skins game, 3 players split the monster skins pool, with each skin worth $466:
-
Logan Kent - Birdie on 2
-
Cliff Morimoto - Eagle on 8
-
George Tudor - Birdie on 13
In the Swag Golf Putting Contest, the action was intense. Each player had a chance to win a custom fit putter courtesy of Swag Golf. 8 players made their first putt setting up a showdown an in the end Ben Kilborn took down the contest narrowly making the playoff putt, and finishing literally inches ahead of the field.
Simply a great day of golf at a great venue, the season opener was great from start to finish. Special thanks goes to our partners, In the Swag Golf and Golf Club Traders for their continued support of the AGT Series!
Congrats again to the AGT Series Mistwood Golf Club Champions who have their tickets punched for the 2021 National Championship hosted at Big Cedar Lodge in November.
